KUVEBO! is Sound Community's resident West African drum and dance company, featuring performances and workshops presenting these community-building art forms.
The last 3 years have seen us safely rehearsing and performing outdoors when feasible during the pandemic. In addition to some live events we were able to enjoy, we participated in Bowling Green's Virtual International Festival--which we filmed with a professional crew in a local park. and also for the Grassroots Radio Conference, hosted by WXOX-LP this year in Louisville, with presenters including Chuck D of Public Enemy as well as numerous radio hosts and activists from grassroots stations across the country. Kuvebo! also joined in demonstrations for justice for Breonna Taylor, for George Floyd, and for all BIPOC living under continuing oppression. We thank Roots 101 for organizing the Juneteenth Festival, and for engaging the community in the struggle for social, economic, and political justice.
We hope to see you out in public soon, but until then we hope everyone keeps the beat until we can meet!
